About

I’m Becca Smith.  I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).   I’m a counselor in the Counseling Center at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, GA.

I’ve been writing this blog for 2 years, and it has been a great experience.  At this point, I don’t have time to keep up with posts.  I hope you are able to find many valuable posts from the past that will help you in your relationship while your in college.  I meet with college students every day and hear their stories.  I wanted to share some of the insights I give in my sessions here on my blog.  I hope some of it is helpful to you…

Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it!

  1. Hi, Becca,
Like your blog. I am working on a therapist anthology of stories and articles like those in your blog. When I get the details ironed out, may I send you the guidelines for a possible submission?

  2. Hi becca
    I’ve been enjoying your blog
Do you have any suggestions for couple’s struggling w/ issues of intimacy?
    (authors,sites, techniques)

    • I would suggest Pia Mellody’s “The Intimacy Factor” or if you suspect either partner having an aversion to sexual intimacy then I recommend “Sexual Anorexia” by Patrick Carnes. Another book I haven’t read but has been recommended for me to read is “The Seven Levels of Intimacy- The Art of Loving and the Joy of Being Loved” by Matthew Kelly.

If they have a Christian background, Kevin Leman’s book “Sheet Music- Uncovering Secrets of Sexual Intimacy in Marriage” is a great book.

Thanks so much for reading my blog. I really enjoy reading yours as well.

  3. Hi Becca, Thanks for subscribing. I was looking for you on Linkedin but I couldn’t find you. If you are on there, add me. There are some great groups for counselors, therapists, that I am on that have lively discussions with other professionals. You might find it of interest. We seem to have similar backgrounds in therapy and are pretty close by. jeanninevegh@yahoo.com

  5. Hi Becca,
I really like your blog and have been reading it quite often. I would love to see your advice on people who have been cheated on, and how easily other women are okay with it as long it’s not them being wronged. Thank you so much!

  6. Hey Becca,
I am going through a rough break up and some of your posts are very helpful. Can you possibly look into writing about when exactly to break up with a person? How many mistakes or problems does each person need to make before it ends? Is it possible to stay in a relationship with past issues?

    • Jake, Thanks for your comment. I will look into writing a post about this issue within the next couple of weeks. Those aren’t easy questions to answer, but I will do my best. Thanks for reading!! I really appreciate it.

  9. Hi Becca,
My name is Lexi Monaghan and I am a newcomer to the blogging world. My current blog is about the reality of college relationships, focusing on my experiences as a student. The blog is ultimately for one of my journalism classes I’m taking at Arizona State this semester. I came across your blog and was very impressed. I thought it would be interesting to do a feature on you and your thoughts of going through the pressures college students face regarding relationships. If you are interested, I would love to interview you. Seeing as you have had real experience counseling students, I thought it could be fun to write a more serious post with your expertise.
My email is alexandra.monaghan@asu.edu if this is something you would like to be a part of!
    Thank you.

    • Hey Lexi, I would love to do an interview with you. As you can see, I haven’t been writing as many posts lately. I started this blog 2 years ago to reach out to students at Aurora University. I now work at Valdosta State University and the counseling center here is a little busier. However, I would love to help you out in any way I can! I will send you an email soon!

  10. Hello Becca, I’ve been reading your blog, and I love it. I’m now studying Psychology, and the topic you wrote interest me. I was wondering, do you also give counseling via email?. Thanks. And good luck

    • Hey Rena, Thanks so much for your comment. I’m glad you like reading the blog. I would love to help you out, but I do not do counseling via email. Email is not confidential, so it isn’t really advised. If you are in college, I am sure they have counselors available who could see you and it usually is part of your tuition. I hope you find someone who can talk to. Thanks again for reading my blog! Becca
